Ihave a other set of pie birds from our small time vintage shoppe , I purchased these two the black bird and his mate the white bird because when I saw them them they instantly brought back memories of my grandmothers antiquie ones lined up cooling on the cupboard there little beaks poking thru the crust cooling.i knew I had to have them , I went back and bought out all she had when I saw others were in love with these little birds as I. Some say they are collectible some say not some say they are ony worth 5.00 dollars, all I can tell you is I purchased them in our local vintage store for wayyy more than 5.00 than that I purchaused them for nostalgic reasons really, and nothing more other than to share with all of you too!You'll have to decide!My little birds are made of fine porcelain, you fill your meat or fruit pie half full push your little black bird in the center.then you cut a ~x~ in the center of your top crust you fill in around yound your bird to the top then push your bird thru the x then seal the crust.bake your pie on a cookie sheet as it cooks the steam escapes thru the hole in his little beak keeping his juices in the pan so it doesnt overflow , now I no why gradma loved hers... so I hope when you get yours you can start your own set of baking memories♥ free shipping dont forget to check out our litte mate to mr black bird our little white bird , happy baking and good luck, happy baking memories ♥ Mmmmmmm!
