The listing, Stamp set, WW II as subject, Mint condition, Scott #909-920 has ended.
This is a set of commemorative stamps, issued in 1943–44. Each stamp represents a country that had been overrun by the axis powers in WW II. Each stamp has a common design, with a dark blue and white border. In the center of each stamp is the name of the country and its flag.
Since they are a little hard to read, they are (in order of the picture that shows the entire set): Poland, Czechoslovakia, Norway, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania, Austria, Denmark, and Korea.
Each stamp is in mint condition. Never use it, never hinged, and mounted carefully by me. I used high quality Mystic Stamp Company mounts, which means that they have a water based adhesive on the back. Said another way, you can lick the back and stick it to a piece of paper to display the whole set. If it were me, I would onlySecure the top two corners on a carefully measured piece of paper, and then frames them I mean, they were issued before D-Day, so the outcome of the war was indeed in question.
I have a lot of stamps, and a lot of stamps sets, but this is one of my favorites. History, flags, and postal history, all rolled into one.
And since they are just as if you bought them from the post office today, if you wanted to (for some reason) you could use them as a postage today, with a postage face value of five cents each.
Many stamp collectors who are not paying attention do not realize that there are several flags that lookquite similar. I added a picture showing Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, and the Netherlands, to show you that although it may look like it, I have not included any duplicates in the set.
And if I haven't said it before, this is the complete set one stamp each, mounted, of the entire set issued by the United States Post Office.
