Description

The listing, Very Old World Champion Cleveland Indians 1949 Autographed Action Photos has ended.

This is a very old set of 4 World Champion Cleveland Indians 1949 Autographed Action Photos. The package look really bad, old, faded, stained but the photos have held up pretty well. The top one in the package is a little yellowed but the others look good. They include Gene Bearden, Lou Boudreau, Bill Veeck and I cannot read the last one, so maybe someone can please tell me who he is.

I really can not tell...I did look up the names on a website and checked to make sure they matched and they do, but not really sure if signed by player or copy.

I purchased a huge box, and I do mean huge at a family estate/yard sale a few weeks ago. It was full of baseball, football, nascar, basketball cards, posters, old newspapers, and I found these yesterday when I was going through all of it. The package looks pretty bad but the pictures look good other than just being a little faded.

i can give you a tip that will help in the future as well as now, if you tilt the image up to the light and check the glare onthe signature, you will either see a uniform glare across the whole image and signature or you will see the signature seems to sit on top the glare this will say it is not a pre print. not saying that it is not an autopen which is actually the signature from the player but it is signed by a machine that replicates the signature many times over. try it and tell me what you see. . i have been collecting for a while now and would love to see what other signatures you come across.

Okay I just took them out in the sun and checked them....I know what you are saying but maybe because these are old black and whites I still can't tell. The one of Bill Veeck has a shine to it but the others don't. Hope that helps a little...sorry.

If those signatures are real the photos are worth big bucks. I mean BIG bucks! (BTW, I think the signature you can't make out is Early Wynn. Truly great name for a pitcher, isn't it?) Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, I think the signatures are facsimiles since there are identical packets/photos for sale elsewhere on the Internet (guess where!) and the autographs are described as facsimiles.

Either way this is an OUTSTANDING auction and it's killing me knowing that I won't have enough credits to win it! AAAAAAUUUGH!

Good luck to all!

Thanks for the input ...was really hoping they are original and not copy, like you said they are still great old photos and a plus to any collection. Never know...you may just have enough to win...good luck :)

I have been listing stuff from it for several weeks and all the stuff I have listed now is from it too. I still have 1000's of baseball cards I haven't even looked at yet and 100's of the clear 9-card pages I have not even started on yet.

Wow; you hit a sports collector's jackpot when you bought that box! No telling what else you'll find in there! Just a reminder, I certainly can't guarantee that the signatures on the photos are facsimiles. Just trying to help clear up the mystery by posting some info I came across. But who knows? Maybe you hit the mega-jackpot and those ARE real sigs! Woo-hoo! (Or should I say "Wa-hoo!" since we're talking about the Indians?}

Once again, GREAT auction. Maybe it's only because I'm a Tribe fanatic but this is the best sports auction I've seen on Listia!

CORRECTION! The sig that you can't make out is NOT Early Wynn. It's Hank Greenberg, the Tribe's GM at the time. Sorry for the boo-boo.
