Description

The listing, Live Plant! Prickly Pear Cactus! Edible! has ended.

Winner will receive one live cactus pad! These pads are super easy to grow. Upon arrival you can literally stick your pad right on top or into the dirt and it will take root! Best way to plant is to bury part (approximately half) of the pad at a partial angle so that some of the flat side of the pad is touching the dirt. Water twice the first week or so then only water every other week and given the proper growing conditions you can have a monster that towers over the roof of your house like mine in just several years. These pads grow and reproduce fast, and when in bloom have purple fruits! Pads and fruit both edible, just be sure to remove spines! Personally love mine roasted/grilled with olive oil salt and pepper. So good! Very healthy! Winner of the auction will receive one small (the smaller are not only easier to ship, but are more successful at taking during a transplant) cactus pad approximate 1-2 inches in size. See pictures with hand for approximation of the size of the pad you are bidding on.
Grow your own food; grow to your better health! Thanks for looking and best of luck!

The fruit makes good jelly. The pads are sliced up and put in salads.

Interesting that it would grow in Florida I thought it would be to wet.

No way, these things thrive quite prolific down here. Florida, for the most part(coastal) has very sandy and acidic soil that these guys love. They're pretty forgiving with overwatering too, they're easier to grow than they are to get rid of once they start really getting established
