Paint it. Stain it. Glue any photo to the face of it.
Spray a little shelack on it for shine!
There you go! A one of a kind wood Yo Yo made by you, how cool is that!

The second picture is a kit i put together myself so you can get a idea of what you can do!
You might even try to do a little wood burning something on it!
