The listing, Antique 1925 1 Franc French "Commerce Industries" coin! has ended.
Nice 1925 France 1 Franc Commerce Industries coin. This 23 mm (7/8 inch) Bronze/Aluminum coin was minted in Paris and is 89 years old. French, 3rd Republic, ruled by Gaston Doumergue van Frankrijk (1924-1931). This type, known as "Chambres de Commerce," superseded the "Semeuse" design of 1898-1920. It was demonetized in 1949. The "Chambres de Commerce" also appeared on contemporary fifty centimes coins. Although issued by the Paris mint, technically this type is not a coin but a token issued by the national Chamber of Commerce, not the government. This enabled the politicians to postpone acknowledging the obvious, that the inflation of World War One had reduced the value of the franc to one-fifth of its former level and there was no going back. Finally, president Poincaré officially devalued the French franc and ordered the issue of new coin types. Nice fascinating coin, please see pictures to grade. This is a key date coin so is VERY collectible, a great investment and would make a great gift or investment.
