If you can not replace the battery can you play the game and what do you mean by time based events

it means the berrys you plant wont grow. you can still play the game all the way through. it doesnt really effect any part of the main gameplay

I bought a old emerald game at a second hand game store called game on and they replaced the battery for me for less than 10 bucks. So if a person wins they can replace if hey want to visit a second hand video game store somewhere :)
