Awesome pair of 8 gauge purple tapers! Lightweight acrylic, comfortable to wear. Gently used and STERILIZED! Comes with 4 black o-rings. FREE SHIPPING.

I won these on here and they worked great! As you probably know, tapers are used for a short time until they're replaced with regular plugs, so now I'm listing these for another lucky Listian!

I ask that the winner sterilize them before using.

"8g" stands for 8 gauge, which is a size measurement of 1/8".

Since the "regular" earring size is probably close to 16g, I would say no, you could not easily (or harmlessly) insert an 8g piece of jewelry into a 16g hole.

If you wanted to gauge your ears to an 8g size, the safest way to do so would be to start with a 16g or a 14g taper, and then move up gradually (12, 10, then 8). Sizes when it comes to these kinds of earrings go 'backwards', that is, a larger number indicates a smaller earring size. So a 10g is smaller than an 8g, and a 6g would be larger than the 8g.
