Description

The listing, Break open your very own crystal geode! has ended.

PLEASE READ ALL!!! This auction is for one small whole, unbroken Kentucky geode. The second picture shows one that has already been broken so you can get an idea of what the inside may look like, it is NOT included in the auction!! The one you will recieve is about an inch and a half. This one is really neat because of the odd sprial shell look that it has. These contain a variety of minerals, but usually teeny tiny crystals. It may contain a sort of funky red dusty crystal stuff as well. They are usually very pretty inside, but once in a while I get one that is odd. They all contain something, some are solid and quartzlike, some are hollow with odd little cavities, but they are all unique! Just think...no human eyes have ever laid eyes on what is inside...These were made over millions of years.
Please ask any questions you have prior to bidding!! As these are formed in nature, I make no promises as to what is inside. These are not the fancy coconut geodes that are sold in the big stores. They are found in the riverbeds in Kentucky where the conditions were just right for them. I have even opened some with water inside...talk about sealed! Can you imagine? Millions of years old water...it was awesome, but I have only had one like that! Please note that most of the crystals have an orange dusty look to them. You might not notice them as crystals right away. Were used to seeing crystals in their cleaned and polished form where they are clear and sparkly, but in nature they are not always that way.

Yep, I sure do. Read the last sentence in the description :) I charge 3.00 to ship to Canada since rates are so much higher. I also ask that you give it several weeks to arrive due to the recent strikes slowing things down. I have a package I sent on the 8th that hasn't even cleared customs yet! I only accept paypal for it though. Hope that helps you out!

Not really, but does take some time and quiet a bit of work. I bead almost like a beaded bezel around the slices of stone then sew it all down on a backing or other beads to hold it down and secure. I beaded a beaver skull once & used Geode slices for his eyes. They shined with the crystals. That was a very unique piece and was done for a Native american friend of mine for a spirit or medicine stick. smaller geode slices were shaped like the beaver tracks and glued down on the cedar stick then beaded around also except for the leather hand hold which had fringe hanging down from the side & end.I had alot of work in that piece, but it was beautiful. I didn't want to give it up after it was finished, lol.

I am not positive where these were picked up actually. I ordered this as part of a massive lot of geodes one time. Here is a link I found that really shows some of what may be inside and tells some of the regions where you can find these. http://www.uky.edu/KGS/rocksmn/geodes.htm

Hey everyone!! Just found this link when I was answering the question above. It shows some really good examples of what might be inside these. I have found ones like the top picture and the second one. The ones with the brown mineral deposits aren't exactly pretty, but they are really neat anyway. Just wanted to remind everyone that this geode is small, about palm of hand size and the extras are marble size. You MUST take great care when cracking them or you will have dust when your done! I like to take the sparkly dust from them and put them in a little bottle and wear it as a necklace.

Since everyone is having so much fun with this auction, I'm going to add two more! SO what your getting is the one pictured That is about 1 1/2 inches, One that is a little smaller at 1 1/4 inches and three of the marble sized ones! I have no idea what are in these little ones!
