I just posted a photo of one of the stones from the first photo. It's a great example of an emerald in matrix. The emeralds in this lot are Brazilian, by the way.

The photo is the actual mix. I scooped out some and put it on a red bowl lid. What you are looking at is a sample of the actual matrix I have. If that doesn't answer your question, please ask again and try to be a little more specific. Thanks.

Just to be certain we both are defining matrix the same way, matrix is the rock in which gemstones are housed during their formation.

The large, lumpy piece at 1 o'clock is an emerald in matrix. Matrix is visible at 7,8,10 and 11 o'clock. 5 o'clock shows aquamarine in matrix.

I am fairly well-known for my emeralds in matrix. They routinely have great color and still have matrix attached.

Is this helpful, Nancy?

Is there just one type of gemstone in the photo? It all looks the same to me. So, what is it?

As stipulated in the auction description, The mixture is diamond, emerald, sapphire, ruby, aquamarine. The winner will receive 2 oz of unsearched matrix (the rock in which gemstone rough is found. The parcel will come with instructions on how to clean the matrix and check for gemstones.

I say this with all the gentleness and kindness I have that since you were unable to identify matrix, perhaps your eye is not discerning enough to recognize the different stones. When I look at the original photo, the matrix doesn't look the same to me at all.

so in your photo is it aqumarine? Or emerald? We do agree on what matrix is.

The individual stone photo is most definitely an emerald.

These stones could be worth anywhere from a few hundred to several thousands of dollars. The winner needs to be patient, careful and painstaking about cleaning and searching the packet of stones. I cannot stress this enough. Also, and this is critical, do NOT hit any matrix with a hammer. You will crush the gemstone material. Use a chisel against the rock and hit the chisel with a hammer. Wear safety goggles!

Hello.
I have another stupid question about that Auction, that just ended. I wanted to bid
on the AMETRIN, but missed it. But you said, people have a choice between 2 stones. So my question is, are you going to put the second one up for Auction ? I really wanted that Gemstone.
Thanks, Inge
