Description

The listing, "1906" NIEKERK DUTCH STERLING SILVER SALT SPOON has ended.

VERY RARE!! "1906" NIEKERK DUTCH sterling silver salt spoon ornately decorated with a ship at sea.
It is my understanding that NIEKERK Bros only made a few spoon patterns while they were in Groningen 1905-1927
History...
A few hundred years ago salt used to be served like sugar in an open bowl. These salt bowls were quite small and meant for only one person to use. As a result there were several on the table during a Victorian dinner party. These salt bowls were called salt cellars and they required tiny silver salt spoons to extract the salt. These spoons were usually no more than 3 inches long with a bowl that measured around ½ an inch to ¾ inch across. Each sterling silver salt spoon was ornately decorated.

As time went by the salt cellar became obsolete and the salt spoons became antiques as well as collectors’ items.

People ask me that too on items I am listing and then don't answer when I ask the same question you are asking...I wonder why also!

Sorry that you may think MY spoons are not the GIN point value they should be ...but it is to me!!!! This collection of spoons I have been auctioning off on here are PRICELESS TO ME and I wish for them to go to people whom will love them as much as I. SO If you think you are not beng able to afford giving POINTS that I ask for then don't partisipate in the action. THIS IS NOT A MONEY SITE and should not be treated as such. Build point value with trading and bartering the items you have. Points are expensive because they want you to post items for bartering on this site>>>>DO YOU GET IT NOW!!!
You need to look at my closed spoon auctions and you would see I used the got the GIN on my spoons and I have gotten the GIN for them. I know they will cherish them as much as I.
Don't come at me with anything you have issue with as I did not say anything other THAN WHY. If you purchase your points instead of posting auctons for what you want is not my problem. Maybe you should use EBAY

I think gezus57 should only look at auctions that r ending soon that way they won't have to worry about time constraints. as for gin bidding it's a tool and if your budget allows it then go for it. dina8 I agree with you this site was made for us to get rid of stuff we don't want and earn credits in the process. then use those p

then take the credits and bid. if u r buying credits then u are limited to what u can afford. maybe this is something they need to look at and rethink what they r listing to see if they can find stuff that get high bids. as for the Jesus comment he helps those that help themselves. peace to all :-). btw. this is for fun not to become millionaires. just stating my views ( not that they matter to anyone but me ).

I have this strange attraction to small utensils, wish I had the credits to obtain some of your great little spoons. In the meantime I'll just sit here and watch. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. LOL!
