Help me out ?? Gibson won 2 cy youngs but in 68 he won MVP too ? Kershaw did the same ...so my question is how many other pictures have won both in same year ...I kept hearing Gibson w kershaws name ...is Gibson the last pitcher ..1968 last time it's been done or is that Last time NL Pitcher ....I looked up Gibson's stats holy ***** what a player ....know some history but this stuff I don't and if I was baseball collector ...how could you pass this up ..I'm having hard time and you know I'm not baseball guy but damn ...his stats are sick and think the era he was doing it ..far as us as country in late 60's Newfound respect for this guy esp during that time ..only imagine what he endured outside the field Yeah I ramble some but damn this all time great pitcher ...I like this card JR and even more I'm researching him some Last one cy young and MVP 68?? Then kershaw in NL
Gibson was one of the greatest for sure. One of the greatest competitors too. There is a story out there that Gibson gave up a couple runs in a inning and the manager wanted catcher Tim McCarver to go out and talk to him. McCarver gets to the mound and Gibson says what are you doing out here, the only thing you know about pitching is you can't hit it. There were a few bad words in there too. Lol. McCarver just turned around and went back to the plate. Justin Verlander won Cy and MVP in 2011, Dennis Eckersley did it in 1992, Vida Blue did it in 1971, Bob Gibson and Denny McClain both won Cy's and MVP's in 1968. Koufax and Don Newombe also did it but that's about it.
Not for sure, I don't own a Beckett. I gave up on Beckett a long time ago. There pricing just was to far off what cards were actually selling for online. It should be in there though. I opened a few boxes from 2003 Avant. If you have a new monthly beckett then they don't always put in all the products so maybe that is it. You would need a full beckett price guide to find it then.
Yeah for some reason Beckett doesn't put all the products in there monthly price guide. You would need like the $50 Yearly Price Guide probably to find it. Or if you have a Beckett online account I think you can check prices on there.
