This is a wonderful book! My Sunday School class did this as a study.

It explains the history / significance of the characters from the parable of the Prodigal Son and the actions that they take. It goes way beyond the nice, traditional story we know and really looks at the older brother's jealousy upon his brother's return & acceptance back into the home. It explains the significance of the youngest brother asking for an inheritance before his father's death occurred.
Then, it uses the parable to compare ourselves to the characters, to help us evaluate our love of God and how we approach him.
I highly recommend this book!
