The lights are battery operated and it is hidden in the pocket on the end. (batteries included).
I tried to get a picture with it lit (pic #3)
The lights are removable so that the runner can be washed and dried.
Measures: 68" long x 12" wide.

It is a beautiful piece. The pictures do not do this item justice.
