Fanned and watching. My wife gives everything from Listia to charity. Lap blankets, wraps, shawls, scarves and throws are collected. When she gets enough between what she crochets or knits the women from our local church carry them to our local nursing home. Other women also contribute. Monday of this week half of all items given to the nursing home were made or gotten from Listia by my wife. She has been in a wheel chair for 18 years with MS We have lost both of our daughters, but we still have three sons. She believes that no matter what bad thing happens in life we must turn all of our sorrow and pain over to God. Once we give it to God it is no longer ours. I guess having total trust in God has seen us through many toils and trials and kept us together. Best of luck with your auction. I cannot bid, but she will. She does a lot more surveys than me. Please fan back.

I would be very pleased to see this warm shawl go to your local nursing home. Having worked in nursing homes as an RN for years, I know how great the need is there. I donate to them myself. God Bless you and Keep you. Fanning back now. :D

Thank you. One of her friends phoned to tell her excited those who received something were. She cannot go with them because no one can transport her, so they keep her in the loop with their meetings. If I have to work, she does not make church. I am an electrical Lineman and sometimes get called away from home for storms.

This is so nice. I would love to have been able to give this to a resident of the nursing home who has no one. I am afraid the person bidding against me is new and probably buying credits. Maybe you will make another later that I can try to win. I am glad you listed. It is truly a nice work of art.

I make shawls/wraps often, but I can't get one done in time for Christmas. I crochet all my things myself, and I'm swamped right now, but I will list another after Christmas. :) thanks.

After Christmas it will still be cold here. I may not finish enough until after Christmas also. The women from church took the last collection a week ago. They wish they had some way to take me, but with my situation in the wheelchair it is not possible.

I definitely will list more shawls/wraps in January, then. Mohair is not really good for nursing home residents. As a Registered Nurse, I'm well aware of how the laundry facilities are hard on the residents clothing. Cotton would be better suited for shawls and wraps for the nursing home, as cotton holds up well with repeated heavy duty washings. :D

I have been using medium weight Red Heart acrylic. It has been holding up well, thus far. This is a small nursing home with 137 residents. We are out in the country and our community as a whole tries to help out when and where we can. A town where most of us know each other.

Acrylics wash very well. Red Heart is a wonderful yarn. This particular shawl/wrap is Mohair, which does not dry well in a dryer. It would need to be spread out flat to dry on a towel for a few hours, and then fluffed in a warm but not hot dryer. I'm glad you use acrylics for your projects. :D

In the old days it was virgin wool, cold water wash and lay flat to dry. There were no dryers and the washers had a wringer. Got my hand stuck in one once.

Some yarns still need to be flat on a towel to dry. It protects the yarns, and it helps the garment keep it's shape. Otherwise it can become so unshapely as to ruin the effect of it. It is a pain to have to lay things flat to dry for a while, but definitely worth the wait. :D
