The listing, 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr Rookie Card Professionally Graded SGC has ended.

This auction is for a 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie card - professionally graded by SGC. I think this card has been seriously undergraded - see scans - the only defects I can notice with my eye is the off-center hologram logo on the back of the card. It is really a beautiful specimen of an iconic card.

This is a gorgeous card, and would make a great Christmas gift for a collector, or any Reds or Mariners Fan. Good luck bidding!!

Shipping is free to the United States - will be shipped via First Class Mail. Thanks for watching, good luck bidding and please check out my other auctions! Have a great week, and Happy Holidays!

I don't see anything wrong with it.The hologram placement shouldn't cause that 60 grade!
+1

I know! I was tempted to crack it open and have it sent to PSA, but I obtained another copy instead. I think this is a really nice looking card though! Thanks for looking and good luck bidding

To be honest...I'm not sure they even count the hologram when determining the grade..I've seen literally hundreds if not over a thousand of these...and every one has the hologram off centered. Nice card!

I'm scratching my head as to why this rating got dinged. At any rate - thanks for watching and good luck bidding!!

Unless there's something surface wise that your overlooking... Or maybe a small crease your missing...the only thing I see is its a little off centered left to right...and top to bottom on the back...but that's just picking on it!! Centering is still 55/45...I don't get it either...you should still do well with it though. Good luck!

I've been over the surface - no defects that I can see, and certainly no creases. Thanks for the comments - Happy Holidays

I agree - Upper Deck jump-started the modern card collecting era when they placed Griffey as #1 in their inaugural set.

A lot of these come back with low grades cause of the gloss on the card. If this was opened out of a pack 5 years or longer after the product came out the cards would stick together and peeling the cards apart ruined the gloss finish on the card, very hard to determine without a glass to it.
Its a great card though. and even if that is the case looks like it should have a higher grade, To me at lowest should of been an 82 on their scale...

Thanks for the insight - I agree, the card is pretty severely undergraded IMHO. At any rate, best of luck bidding!
