Description

The listing, Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Crown Rhinestone Pin Chain Fob has ended.

Sometimes I list things and I've not really a clue what they are. But I always know quality.

This is a quality piece. Sterling. Vermeil. Rhinestones. A pearl. Could be a pin. Does have a pin, but is it a watch fob for ladies?

I don't know. Perhaps you do.

It is in very good condition. Quite heavy. But your not buying this for scrap silver and if you are you need to just buy silver rounds with the spot being so low...

Beautifully ornate. Marked (twice.)

2 1/2" high.

Let the games begin.

Thanks!

My Great grandmother had one of these. She always wore it. On the other end she had a little snuff box attached to it. Although there is no telling what was it it. I really like this. It is a very special piece.

Well thank you for the offer, but I would lose big time If I accepted it. Witht the premium listing was near 2K fee, then the GIN fee, then shipping to DE, then what I paid for this thing...ouch. I'd be in the dog house pretty quick! Thank you though. I mostly put this up for fun though. Thanks LT.

Rooooolllllll Tide! Just had to say it. My husband is from B'ham. He says what you have is definitely a ladies chain fob. It was mainly for a pendant watch. Before wristwatches were made, and even for a while after, most women wore smaller pendant watches. As far as finding a hallmark, most countries require silver to be hallmarked depending on purity of silver. It would be a few characters like a crown or lion and the country's symbol. Very nice piece.

Ro-tye! LOL. Indeed, and I agree with you 100%. That was my total inclination (about ladies watch fob) and if anyone is a watch person it is I. The piece is marked "sterling" twice. You bring up an excellent point though, in that b/c this does not have a Monarchal reign mark (Lion, etc) it is post 1890's...I'd think! Thanks for sharing: Merry Crimmas and Rotye!

Oh... The hallmark could be on the inside of the clasp....

I agree. I've searched this piece for about 45 minutes over the days with a very nice B&L loupe. The best realization i've come to is that I cannot decipher the maker. There does appear to be initials, or a mark under the base of the crown as it is appropriate and somewhat hidden. Being heavily patina'd I am unble to verify 100%. I suppose that if the new owner cleans it (underneath the crown) the mark might appear. But I cannot in truth claim any maker, other than antique and sterling! Thanks for the stimulating conversation!

its just marked "sterling," twice. I've looked for makers marks but cannot find any, unless it is hidden somewhere. Thank you!
