This sequel to Mortimer Beckett and the Secrets of Spooky Manor finds the title character traveling back in time to recover random items and prevent a permanent rift in the universe. It seems the ghosts from Mortimer's first adventure have pulled a number of modern objects through a time portal, and it's up to gamers to travel through eight different ages to collect the items. As was the case in the first game, scenes in Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox are filled not with a large number of objects, but with numerous different pieces of just a few items. Once reassembled, many of the items can be used to access new locations, and every cleared level rewards players with a piece of Uncle Jerome's time bomb, which is the key to permanently sealing the portal.
