I think they were commenting on the comment about the person who said it was worth less $$~ All art is subjective to the buyer, if it has meaning to someone it has value. Being an artist myself I know how much time and energy is put into a piece of art and it is definitely worth what is being asked~ Real art can cost thousands and upward~ Good luck and best to you with all your art!!

For all of those saying that it would not be worth $100, you really must not know much about art. This is not a print this is the original drawing which I'm sure took a GREAT DEAL of time to complete. It is a very precise drawing and looks amazing, the cost of materials and amount of time the artist had to put into creating this is why it is worth that amount. Whoever said that it's worth $10 is a joke, a poster of a photo would probably cost that and this is a hand-drawn piece of art.

Belle Your art is great don't pay any attention to what people say! I also am a fellow artist and I love doing portraits!
Also for everyone who is saying that $100 is too much for an original portrait is insane. If you must know I learned in art school that $100 is actually a very average price for a professional portrait! Many artists charge much more. It takes several hours of hard work to draw a portrait! Not to mention all the supplies needed! Keep up the great work Belle!!!! You are very talented!

I agree with yoyojessica. Every artist has their own unique style and your artwork is worth however much you think it's worth. That is the beauty of art. If Picaso wasn't famous how many people would look at some of his pieces and say it isn't worth the canvas it's painted on? I to am an artist used to only do graphite work. Now I've moved into watercolor painting which tends to be valued higher.

The people saying this is only a $10 piece sound like they are a bit jealous. Maybe they aren't artistic or maybe they don't have the guts to put their work out there or maybe they just are jealous of the attention you're getting. It's not really important. I just wanted to voice my support and remind you that art is what you make it and it's value is the same. No one can tell you how much your work is worth because no one can say what it's value will be in the future.

Hi! I've read all the comments and I just want to say that it is a really good sketch. As an artist myself I will say that every artist is different in their approach and the result can be very subjective. My style is more realistic when I draw so that is why I called it a sketch and it's very good. I know the time and effort that goes into drawing believe me so please don't feel bad when i say to keep practicing because you really do have a talent! I looked at your website and I love your animal drawings! You should list those on here, too.
I list my drawings here and I know it can be hard to part with original work. I've dug up pieces from 6 years ago! lol
But I also listed commissions so maybe you can try something like that which will give you a chance to draw more as well. I know it's helped me tremendously. This site had given me great exposure for my website and I have gotten jobs from it.
Also pricing art is so difficult. I started low and as my skill improved so did my pricing. $100 for an original drawing is not high. It depends on the artist and the quality of the drawing. Price it however you feel it's worth!

funny, I am doing just that. Sketching pets, that is. I have more practice in that. Also , I took several years off when the kids came and am just getting back to what I love doing. Most of my sketches have been on a tiny scale. I'm practicing working larger and that is where these sketches come in. I hope to do lots more and give them away as I finish and grow.
