Nice 1942 Peru 20 Centavo Coin. Only 500,000 were made of this1942 type so are considered a Rare Key Date. This was during WWII so low mintage was likely to do with a shortage of metal. The obverse design features an idealized female bust facing right and on the outer periphery are the words “REPUBLICA PERUANA” and the year of issue (1942). The reverse design features a sprig with the denomination “20 CENTAVOS” to the right of the sprig. There were only 500,000 of this 72 year old coin produced so it would make a valuable addition to any collection, a great gift or a nice investment.

A former client of mine had a relative that sailed the world in Merchant Ships in the late 1800's to World War II collecting coins from around the world. I bought them years ago from her and this is one of the actual coins he collected.
