Automatic movements are driven by a steel mainspring that needs to be periodically rewound. When you wear the watch, your wrist and arm movements will wind up the movement, and it will operate and tell time. When your timepiece is fully wound, it will have power reserve of approximately 38 hours. If the timepiece has not been worn for over 38 hours it is advisable to manually wind the watch to ensure necessary power reserve.
