The listing, NEW Handspun wool yarn in center pull balls has ended.
Merino sheep wool sells for $10/lb, straight off the farm. I bought merino wool from the farmer. I washed the wool, I dyed the wool in a cold water/vinegar set koolaid dye process, I carded the wool, I combed the wool, and I spun the wool on a wooden Ashford Traditional spinning wheel, then I plyed the yarn, (spun three strands together). I washed it again, and set the spin. I then used my center pull ball spinner and came up with three large balls of coral colored yarn. The entire process takes more than a week. I don't remember how much yardage the yarn is, but each ball is a different weight, as you can see. One is 4.4 ounces, one is 3.4 ounces, one is 3.0 ounces. If you knit or crochet with commercial yarns, you know that the average skein of yarn is approximately 3.25 to 4 ounces. Yardage depends on the thickness of the yarn. This yarn is more of a sport weight, so it is thicker, therefore the yardage will be less than the commercial 4 ounces of yarn. I have large hands so you can see the balls of yarn are bigger than a softball. To make the center pull feature work, simply pull out the paper from the middle, and use the center strand end to start your project. Total homespun yarn in this listing is three balls, adding up to 10.8 ounces of coral yarn. The yarn in the pictures is the yarn the winning bidder will get. Postal scale is not included in the listing.
