No problem. Glass is brittle I guess, even from the depths of the earth. Once I posted it, my brain wouldn't quit till I checked my facts lol. My mother always said my father was full of useless info, until it became relevant lol. I take after my dad lol. And being a "know it all" isn't bad til I can't help my 13 year old with his math homework lol.
Your welcome. To many people don't appreciate the beauty of the world around them. My Dad used to take us hiking around where we lived and we learned to appreciate what nature gives us, even if it is fungi and Dad wants us to try it lol. If I remember right, obsidian is right under diamonds on the hardness scale. And that, too me, is very cool!
Obsidian and the way it came about to be a gem is genuinely nature and that alone is lovely.............the colors of the rainbow it puts out if held in the sunlight is unique. The hardness I am not sure of but I figure it most likely is up there with the diamonds. All in all I appreciate nature too and the beauty we have to endure from it!
Had to check my facts. Obsidian's hardness is 5.5 and diamonds are 10. So I was wrong lol. But in fairness, I learned that on the history channel 3 years ago lol.
Wow, diamonds are a 10 in hardness well they can cut glass. Obsidian is made when lava is cooled too fast.........you think that it would have a higher hardness. Well we learn something new everyday lol, thank you for the info.
