It is very purple and not old or scratched. It really is a beautiful piece. Any of the markings you see in the picture are actually the stone itself.

This appears to be quite lovely :) I wish there were more photos of it...is the back solid silver or open back? how large is the bale? a photo next to a dime or quarter or penny would also help.
