Could this yarn be used for the premie hats? I am in a group that makes them then donates them to the local hospital for the premie unit. I am not familiar with the fingering yarn.

Yes it is so soft. And it is designed for babies so I think it would be fine.

Fingering might be a bit small for those caps. I used to make them too, and baby sport seems to work best. this is much smaller.

you can knit hats from fingering, you just need to find a pattern made for fingering weight yarn.
