We have grown these and love this tree!
Royal empress germination....
This is how we germinate our seeds.. However you can go online if you like and search for a different way, but we always use this.
We take the seeds and sprinkle a few in a plastic shoe box that is half full with potting soil,
Then we take a sand and sift it over the seeds just enough to almost cover the seeds.
You will still see some parts of the seeds.
Then mist the seeds with a spray bottle so that the seeds and sand don't wash to one side.
Keep the seeds moist and the lid on, keep them in a sunny window, or where the morning and evening sun can hit them out doors.
You can tell when they start to come up, the leafs will look like Tiny hearts.
Keep them in there until they are about an inch high, you can remove the lid but don't allow them to dry out.
Once they are around 4 in high you can separate them.
Or when you plant them plant them in the shoe box, use separate little pots so you do not have to mess with the roots.
Once you have removed them, harden them off by putting them in a shady spot out doors for the hottest part of the day, and gradually move in full sun.
These trees like full sun!
