this listing is for a vintage phone I am not sure of the age but I think it may be from the 1940`s but I am not sure it may be newer are older.I have no way to test the phone to see if it works are not so I am selling it as is for parts the phone may are my not work as you can see in the pictures it does have some scratches faded and missing paint but it is a very old phone and looks pretty good for it`s age the best I can see the headset has bell system made by western electric F1 but the F1 part is scratched some and hard to make out for sure so please just look at the pictures also the dial part is very slow and needs help turning back once you dial a number maybe it could be fixed but I don`t know also one screw is missing from the bottom probably not a big deal but I noticed it when I took the screw out to take pictures of the inside of the phone so just thought I would mention it.Free shipping to USA listia verified address only If you have any questions please let me know

I am back and I hope someone else finds this as interesting as I do. They did not start to make the 5302s till August 1955. Also any standard Bell telephone will have numbers and/or letters you can read through the finger holes. Since the 300 dial plate was too small they took the 500 dial plate (3" dia) and created the other ring to fit but only used white dots around it. It is not one piece like the more modern 500 models were. This phone had the old reception equipment inside so they only sold it close to the office for general use only. It was a single line. So if anyone wins this they will have their work cutout for them to upgrade. I might still bid as the history is fascinating. I used to fix computers so this would be a great project. Besides I really would be surprised if it still worked from looking at it.

The plunger was added when it was refurbished. There are probably other date codes on other components as western electric was a master recycler. Finding an all original one is rare now.

Oh man! This is a 300 series phone refurbished to look like a 500 phone. Note it is a 5302. They put the 5 in front of the series number, replaced the handset plungers and the outer case and so customers had a newer looking phone without the newer price.

I have a handful of relatives who work for AT&T. My great-grandfather started with the first SWBT and most of my family followed. Surely ONE of them can make this thing work. LOL! F/W

And the receiver is most likely plastic and hollow but after 1939 since they stopped dating them in that year. I think it is really a GF receiver. these guys were deceiving their consumers!!! Nothing new I know.

It is estimated then the phone was made about 5 years after the 500 came out. Ie 1953 with some older parts.

This might be a 1958 but it was refurbished (note the red code on bottom). It still has the original Bakelite handset and receiver so that is good. It was made sometime between 1958 and 1963.

This appears to be the 501F which came out in 1958. It has the plunger to connect the dial and talk circuits. It is the party line phone which replaced the 506G. It also helped to minimize interference. It has the ringer volume control on the left rear base. These types of phone were manufactured in various forms until 1986 and are still made in some countries today!

I had to research. The original 500 originally came out in 1949. It early 1953 it was given some upgrades including volume control which would be on the bottom.
