It does work very well. We used it all the time in New York state where the speed limit was only 55 mph. I'm getting rid of it only because we live in a different state now, where the speed limit is almost 80 mph.

I wonder if this scanner is able to pick up today's police radars? I loved the one I owned in the late 80's early 90's.

It picks up most of 'em. I can't guarantee that it picks up all of 'em. We only stopped using it about a year ago. It's not the newest radar detector, but it's not the oldest either. Thanks for looking!
