The pink is just a regular case, the black case can hold additional battery, it says it stores up to 8hrs on the box. So if your phone was dying you could put the black case over it to charge it.

The pink case is not a charger, you can attach the black cover to charge it. But it doesn't come with a separate charger

It can be attached to charger and then store battery when you leave and you can charge batter and phone at same time at home
