How do I know that this is not a copy, are there papers that authenticate the date and type of coin? I'm sorry, I've just been duped several times before.

Hi Seth. I think this one is Constantius Gallus, the nephew of Constantius II. The clue is he's not wearing a diadem (crown) and is bare headed. That makes the Obverse legend DN CONSTANTIVS IVN NOB C. The Ex. is pretty clearly ASIS so it was minted in 551-552 A.D. in Siscia (now in Croatia). The RIC catalogue Siscia will be Siscia 333, I think. Good luck!

I think you are correct except the date is the same 351-355 AD per forumancientcoins.com

Sorry, the dates were a typo. tesorillo.com says the larger Constantius Gallus (AE22) with this reverse were only minted in 351-352. I'm finding the Constantius Gallus is much harder to get than the Constantius II, so this is a really good auction. (And now the winner will have 2 really good websites to use for Roman coins!).

Y'all there's no way this guy would be selling a real one on here... A real one would be worth thousands of dollars or be in a museum if the guy had a conscience
