The listing, Christmas candlestick ~ Leonotis nepetifolia has ended.
Lion's ear, Klip Dagga, Christmas candlestick. Annual, Full Sun, Drought tolerant, Sow seeds 1/8" deep in well draining soil after danger of frost.
Excellent, super magnet for Hummingbirds ~ flowers produce copious amounts of nectar that attracts birds, bees & butterflies. Hummingbirds sip for longer than normal periods at 1 flower. Each tubular flower is a hummingbird banquet.
Studies as of 2011 have yet to verify all this plant's medicinal uses. Its leaves &/or flowers are commonly used by herbalists to calm nerves, heal burns, alleviate symptoms of fever or colds, ease arthritis pain & even combat malaria.
If used for calming or relaxation, make sure there are no interactions w/ other meds. I have read tea made from Klip can be very bitter. It should be noted ~ it has shown to be habit forming similar to tobacco. Anyone interested in this plant for its medical uses should do their homework before taking.
