RATED PG-13 2001 DVD-Good condition
A must see for Hugh Grant or Robin Williams fans! This is an oldie but goodie. Hugh is positively adorable in this and Robin Williams does his best accent ever- Russian.
Sam (Hugh Grant) has it all - a wonderful girlfriend, a successful child psychology practice and a red Porsche. But he's faced with having something he never wanted when he learns his girlfriend (Julianne Moore) is expecting. The news sends the unflappable psychologist into a panic. Torn between advise given by a well-meaning but over-bearing couple, (Tom Arnold and Joan Cusack), and by his confirmed bachelor buddy (Jeff Goldblum), Sam's in serious danger of losing his mind and his girlfriend. He's got just nine months - give or take a week, according to their crazy Russian gynecologist (Robin Williams) - to grow up!
Well heres the thing this dvd was bought before most movies clearly stated wide or full screen on the front. And I just played it on my computer it looks widescreen to me but quite how the widescreen movies of today are. This one seems a bit more like a combination of the two is the best way to describe it. I read on the back of the dvd and it actually states Anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio 2.35:1. That doesnt make a lot of sense to me but maybe it will help you?
That does it. Full screen is 4 x 3 or 1.33 to 1. Widescreen is 16 x 9 or 1.85 to 1 or 2.35 to 1 or 2.40 to 1. You have a widescreen! I've joined the bidding process and you have learned a lot. Thanks for all the extra work. Keep it in mind. I'll be asking again in the future. I only collect widescreen. The full screen, or "pan and scan" cuts out about a third of the picture. You only get about 2/3 of the picture or pan and scan. I don't like missing a part of the picture. Sometimes there is something important in what is cut. Give me widescreen anytime. Thank you very much. Jim .
No problem. Glad I could help and thanks so much for your bids. Have you seen this movie before? It was one of my favorites when I was so into Hugh Grant haha. I used to have like 10 of his movies. This one is really funny if you have never seen it I think you will really enjoy it.
Here just found this online: A DVD labeled as "Widescreen Anamorphic" contains video that has the same frame size in pixels as traditional fullscreen video, but uses wider pixels. The shape of the pixels is called pixel aspect ratio and is encoded in the video stream for a DVD disc If an anamorphic DVD video is played on standard 4:3 television without adjustment, the image will look horizontally squeezed.
