You could plant them on a trellis by you house on a south side where they will get the best sun. Oakland is cold, I have a friend who lives in Terra Alta and she gets blasted with snow in the winter. She is 81 and her husband is 92 and it is hard on them.

That is the color on the seed pack. I have way more than I can use. I won't know for sure until I see them bloom in the summer,

Yes. I had them blooming beautifully and my goats got out and ate them. I am unsure if they pulled them out of the ground and ate the roots also, so I am starting them again. I planted a bunch in the fall and I am planting more today since it is fairly warm out. Where do you live in Western Maryland? I am a transplant from Harford County. Will be here 10 years in March and love everything about the area. I live in Oldtown. It is best to plant them in the fall so they get a winter over and time to germinate naturally. People go through all these contortions about soaking them in orange juice and other stuff, but they are native to here, so just stick the seeds in the ground and let nature take her course.

Yes we do get a lot but so far this winter has just been really cold. Not much snow. I love the flowers, just wanted to make sure they would grow in this area.
