Not sure about the specifics I got for a gift from a ex boyfriend :) It is really cute though and it fits on my ring finger. It has a sapphire stone in middle and is surrounded by diamonds. It looks like a daisy flower. Very feminine and dainty. I just do not wear gold anymore I am silver kinda woman ;) I hope this will find a new home where it is worn and loved ;))
The letter, whether it is upper case or lower case, and the shape surrounding it, combine to indicate the year a piece of gold was formed. The idea came from the practice of having a different assay master appointed each year. The assay master held office from May to April. To match a precious metal piece to the assay master who oversaw its assessment, a system of revolving letters was used, one per assay master's one-year term. Twenty letters of the alphabet were used; J, V, W, X, Y, and Z were not included. Each letter was used in turn, five times per century. Each time the letter came into rotation it was varied in style or in the presentation of its surrounding shield.
ok so i had someone PM me and inquire about this ring more and i took a closer look at it and actually never realized how pretty it really is! so thanks Patty! anyhow, they are little round diamonds in their own little prong, and then the sapphire is in its own little prong as well. There are 6 little diamonds and the one sapphire in the middle. and it says 10 k and the inside and it looks like a diamond shape thing inside that has the letter "F" in it. I dont know its really small..
D. After examining the stone, focus in on the stamps inside the setting. A stamp of “10K, 14K, 18K, 585, 750, 900, 950, PT, Plat” indicates the setting is real gold or platinum which gives a better chance that the stone in it is real as well. While you’re looking at the interior of the ring, also look for any “C.Z.” stamps that would indicate the center stone is not a diamond.
