This auction is for 100 reddish orange and yellow rare Pride of Barbados seeds (Caesalpinia Pulcherrima). Fresh, harvested mid December 2014. Small tree sized shrub with beautiful flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Priced to move.

Pride of Barbados, Dwarf Poinciana, Flamboyant, Peacock Orchid (Caesalpinia pulcherrima)

Size: Up to 10 feet tall, Much smaller in pots or easily kept smaller with pruning

Range: Zones 9-11, Perennial from roots in zone 8, Excellent pot plant in all zones

Growth: Very fast growing with plenty of water and fertilizer.

Culture: Full sun, Fast draining soil, Very drought tolerant but regular water and fertilizer give best appearance and blooms

This exotic looking plant from South America and the West Indies is tough and fast growing up to 10 feet tall. It blooms all summer to add a touch of the tropics to your yard or greenhouse. It needs well draining soil and lots of heat and sunshine. It makes a terrific pot plant for summer color. It will grow into a small tree with interesting twisted branches and trunk or, if pruned back annually, a bushy shrub loaded with flowers. Has some thorns. Either way it's definitely an attention getter!
