Hand Painted Jewelry Trinket Treasure Secret Stash Storage Alter Magic Spell Pendulum Box w/ Front Latch & Back Hinges, an Original One-of-a-Kind OOAK Designed Item, by Me! :) Wicca ~ Pagan ~ Celtic ~ Witch ~ Collectors

This is a wood wooden box which I have hand painted using a crackle design finish. The bottom, or base coat of paint is a gloss black, and the top coat is a pretty teal green gloss paint. The entire piece has been painted, and the outside bears the crackle finish covered with a protective coat of polyurethane finishing spray. The inside is painted the same teal green in a solid coat, with the edges and my initials in black. Inside also has a polyurethane protective coat finish. Brass tone latch in front secures top to bottom piece, and the two brass tone hinges on back attach the two pieces together and allow hinged opening and closing.

This type of painting technique is tedious and a little skill is involved to get good results. Photos from every angle have been provided. I hope you are pleased with the end result!

Measurements: 5-1/4" long x 3-1/2" tall x 3-1/2" deep

So the paint crackles and there are no scratches/dents in the box? Love the color! F&W :]

Hi, great question. No, there are no scratches/dents in the box... it's all the effect of the paint (crackle) technique. There is a very thin recessed layer...just the thickness of the top coat of paint (the teal), where it shows through to the black paint. It is on the surface only...and does not go into the wood. The wood underneath is perfectly smooth and intact. There is a top/finishing coat of polyurethane, so the entire piece is sealed and protected. I hope that makes sense, lol. :)

May I just say, that your talent for painting is truly amazing. I've been painting boxes and things for almost 10 years now and I never thought to use the crackle paint. It is really beautiful. Whoever gets it will have a true treasure.

Oh my goodness, Thank You MaggieAnderson! But I don't use the Crackle Paint that you buy ready-made at the store. I don't get as good results with it, and it's not cheap if you make a mistake! I use an old technique that I know you could do, too. And since you paint, too...you already have the supplies needed. You wouldn't have to buy a thing! It just takes a little time.. you already have the skill. It's a lot of fun and the results are better than any store-bought crackle. Message me and I'll give you the details.. I'm happy to share! :)

But I absolutely Love, love, love doing this kind of thing... I love to dabble in all kinds of stuff. I get bored easily, so I switch up projects frequently. I have a ton of half-done projects waiting to be finished, lol. I get so many ideas and then I get excited and want to start it right away! :) But my New Years Resolution is to get all these half-done things finished and either in a special place in my home, or up for sale/auction to share with others. I'd like to try a few other paint techniques...like white wash, antiqued finishes, restoration and salvaged wood finishes.. I have big plans, but so much to finish up first. I'm kinda eager to get stuff done and out of here, because I have an idea to make this really neat kitchen table! It will be my biggest job yet, but I'm super excited about it. I saw a few designs I liked made from salvaged and repurposed wood frames, doors, and similar large wood pieces used for the top of the table. The finishes were rustic and tattered, but they came out amazing and soo beautiful. I just have to make one myself! :)
