Wouldn’t it be great if you could use your NintendoDS like a portable media center? Wouldn’t it be good to listen to your mp3s, watch videos and see your holiday photos on it?
Guess what. You can. All you need is this little device called the R4DS (or R4 Revolution). The R4 should be an essential component for every DS owner to enhance their experience.
The R4DS works as an adaptor for your DS to transfer data with a micro SD card, the type you might use in a digital camera or mobile phone (not included in thhis auction).
First you need to put your applications and files on your SD card from your computer. Following that, simply plug your SD card into the R4, then the R4 into your Nintendo DS. Then you can use whatever files and applications are stored on the SD card in your NDS.
The applications can be downloaded from the Internet for free. The types of applications you can expect range from music players, image viewers and calculators to card games and homemade platform games.
On top of this, using the R4DS, you can back-up all your current DS games onto an SD card.
The R4DS is NOT illegal (you can buy them from Amazon).

NOTE: This particular Flash Cart will only work for the DS and the DS Lite, not DSi or 3DS.

awesome listing my boys have 2 acekard 2i and they have 8gb micro sd in it with 30-50 nds games saves me hundreds of dollars

Does this support 32 gb micro sd? My neighbor has 1 of these but every now and then he has to replace the flash cart because it stops working.

I have no idea to be honest. I have never seen a 32 gb MicroSD. I know that it's an older R4 and does not support a MicroSD-HC.

Unfortunately, the only R4 that I have available is the originals. I have two more for future listings. But when they're gone, they're gone. I just read that the R4 team has stopped production of these. So there will be no more. I'm thinking about maybe listing the next one with a MicroSD and the usb dongle all in one awesome auction with a GIN. But I will not be listing my only R4DSi, sorry.

Depending on the size of the MicroSD that you decide to use, you can do a lot with your Nintendo DS.
My personal R4 has about 30 game roms (back-ups) and includes an NES emulator to play the "old school" Super Mario Bros. game and other old school games. I have music videos and mp3's on mine, as well as a .pdf reader. I don't know if I could love my DS so much without this R4 device!!
The winner of this item is in for a real treat! There's so much that you can do with your Nintendo DS or DS-Lite, once you have this and download the free applications/software.

Because of a recent comment from a fellow Listian, I just tested this R4 with a 2 GB MicroSD and the downloaded firmware direct from the website www.r4ds.com
It worked perfectly in my NDS-Lite.

A MicroSD is usually 2 GB or smaller. It is NOT the same as a MicroSDHC, which is 4 GB and higher. A MicroSD can be purchased from many stores for as little as $10 or found right here on Listia for free.
The R4DS listed requires a MicroSD. The amount of files that you are able to fit on the MicroSD depends on the size of the files.
