Get Ready For Easter! The Children or Grandchildren with love the idea of an egg growing on a bush...
Seeds for an all time favorite: Easter Egg Plant or Ornamental Egg Plant, (Solanum Ovigerum) (aka: Wonder Egg Plant).
These plants are a definate conversation piece in your garden! Children from "1 - 92" will be amazed at the Easter Eggs growing in your garden. The eggs, which are about the size of an average chicken egg, start off pure white, as they age they change to a light yellow then to a dark gold color. The fruits - or eggs - are long lived on the plants and you will usually have some of every color at any given time all summer long! You also get the cutest lilac flowers with yellow stamens on these plants as an added bonus.
These can be grown in containers (so you can place them strategically for best effect!) or in the garden or landscape need full, or a good amount of sun each day, and have average water needs.

** VERY EASY TO GROW! **

The fruits are not edible (see note below)*.

* REGARDING EDIBLE, NOT EDIBLE:

A fact sheet published by the University of Florida's Cooperative Extension Service explains the differences between this plant, S. ovigerum, (grown as an inedible ornamental plant) and white fruit varieties of S. melongena, which are edible:

Link: http://if-srvv-edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mv061

Fruit color:
S. ovigerum fruit is white when immature but turn yellow as they mature.

S. melongena fruit remains white at maturity, some with a hint of green.

Fruit size:
S. ovigerum fruit typically remains small, resembling their namesake hen's eggs in size and shape.

S. melongena white varieties grow to typical eggplant size at maturity, significantly larger than the ornamental fruit.

I can't let the chickens eat them though or any plant parts as eggplant is a nightshade and no no for chickens and most animals, so I will be growing them in pots in my greenhouse high up off ground to contain them from my chickens. I will only let them see them in my hands or on the ground and only to see how they react then take them away.

I've read on the net where people are eating them.
