Thanks to indulgence of her husband, Dr. Bill Lintz (Robbie Coltrane), wealthy eccentric Trudy (Rene Russo) has already accumulated a large collection of wild animals by 1931 when she introduced to Buddy, a sickly young gorilla. Trudy raises Buddy as own child, dressing in human clothes, & the ape responds with absolute obedience. But as Buddy grows older & larger, Trudy is unable to restrain him from turning violent.This is a fact based story about a socialite & her husband who live in mansion with brood of animals including chimpanzees who are raised as children. When she discovers an ailing baby gorilla, she decides to care for it as well. Years later, gorilla is fully grown & its strength is sometimes out of control. However, the gorilla shows love for his mistress & obeys commands. That all changes when invited to display gorilla & chimps at Chicago World's Fair. Accidentally freed by chimps, gorilla terrorizes the Fair. From that point, he becomes moody & more uncontrollable until he attacks his mistress in rage.
