Description

The listing, 1937-1943 Unique Three Pence Coin Bracelet has ended.

I honestly don't know anything about this bracelet at all. I have had it sitting in my jewelry box for many years.

I know it has coins that are dated from 1937-1943

1937-1
1941-2
1942-2
1943-2

I have looked the exact coin up on the internet and this is the information I found:

Threepence (1937-1948)
O Bare head of George VI left
GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP.
R Thrift plant, dodecagonal
THREE PENCE date

Base Threepence of George VI (1937-1948)
Diameter: 21.90mm
Weight: 6.8000g
Fineness: .790 Copper, .010 Nickel, .200 Zinc
Base Content: 0.0000 oz
Obv: Bare head of George VI left
GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP.
Rev: Thrift plant, dodecagonal
THREE PENCE date

Don't ask me what it means or if the bracelet is even worth anything...after all, the coins do have holes in them for someone to have made a bracelet.

I do know it is unique and there is not a clasp on the bracelet...the diameter measures 8 to 81/2 "

As I was sitting here waiting for the pictures to load, I began polishing the coins with a polishing rag and they are not reflecting the same color as is in the photos, they are looking more of a silver (nickel) color.

Of course I had to take another picture...so..what do you think, should I leave just the one coin polished or should I polish them all?

If anyone has any information that they would like to share with everyone about this bracelet...please feel free to add it in the comments area. (I am curious myself)

Please feel free to share this or any of my other auctions on Facebook or Tweet about it.

Thanks for looking ;o)

Um, you mentioned it has no clasp...? Do you know what type of clasp it had? Are you using anything to keep it closed.

No, there never was a clasp and it stays closed. I uploaded a picture of the back of it so everyone could see. This is how it has been since I got it years ago.

It has happened to me plenty of times...if I want it bad enough and I have the credits, I keep bidding, if not...I go find something else to spend my credits on...lol. This auction is still pretty low on the bids, but you never know what their max is!!

Welcome to Listia...if you bid on something and it says, "bid submitted, however you have been outbid" it is because someone has set their max bid in there...you can't see their max bid and neither can I...only the bidder knows how much they bid!! Hope that helps and good luck ;o)

My mom has a bracelet like this, and she said the pieces on hers are
"thruppenny bits"...I suppose "thruppenny" is a corruption of "three penny".
