Description

The listing, Uncut Rubies, a jar full!!! has ended.

I was traveling in South Dakota with my grandparents on a trip cross country when i was a child. This was about 40 years ago, when we stopped along side the road and found some giant ant hills.
There were piles of sand and dirt around the holes. Low and behold they were also throwing out RUBIES. Silly ants! These rubies are from our fantastic find while traveling. The jar they came in is the original jar we scooped them up in. Some are deep blood red shiny and smooth. These would be perfect to put into a necklace or ring for your love. Any rock hound would just love to add this to their collection.

About rubies....
Prices of rubies are primarily determined by color. The brightest and most valuable "red" called pigeon blood-red, commands a huge premium over other rubies of similar quality. After color follows clarity: similar to diamonds, a clear stone will command a premium, but a ruby without any needle-like rutile inclusions may indicate that the stone has been treated. Cut and carat (weight) also determine the price

those are actually Anthill garnets, unless you have had them tested...In parts of Arizona they Ants push up the garnets thru their pile and when it rain's, the locals go out and collect them, they are very expensive...Ive been studying gemstones for a bit now and have a nice collection, but those are very beautiful, you have some big ones in there since most that are found are small..
