Description

The listing, Antique - Vintage Sta-Lokt Solid Gold top Cufflinks in Original Box has ended.

This is an elegant pair of Antique – Vintage Art Deco Cufflinks. The unusual snap together cufflinks have an engine turned design and are Hallmarked Sta-Lokt with patent date of October 31, 1922 on each link. Manufactured by J. F. Sturdy Sons Company.

The cufflinks open with a pull tab mechanism on one side. The little knob on top of the cufflink makes it easy to close and open. Just pull knob and the cufflinks open quite easily!

The cufflinks show some wear on the interior sides. These were well loved.

The gold tops were tested by me using 10kt gold acid and a marking stone.

One problem! Only 3 of the faces match. The other is a Sta-Lokt cufflink – see pictures. The tops are approx. 9/16” round and are functional. They will stay locked until you pull the tap.

I had found these in a storage box when I was cleaning. I could not find out if they belonged to my Great Grand Father or were from an estate find.

Sta-Lokt cufflinks are harder to find than the Kumm Apart cufflinks. So if you are cufflink collector or want to pass them along, please bid on these.

I have been searching for information on these cufflinks for a while and have done my best to describe them.

All Listia Rules Apply and I will only ship to a Listia verified address.

Still Free Shipping.

They do not stick to a magnet. I have searched on the internet for well over a year on Sta-Lokt cuff-links before I decided to list them.

Just to be clear, these can actually be worn, right? The non matching piece still fits correctly?

Gold plated or Gold filled Sta-Lokt cufflinks were stamped as such.

Did you scratch them up? pet peeve. The markings should be on the piece.

I just re-tested on the inner side that folds over. Scratch on the stone three times in the same spot. A slight mark that is there but can not be seen with a naked eye.
Using the 10 kt acid solution - all 3 marks had metal showing thru the acid.

If the tops were gold filled or gold plated, the cufflink would not have passed this test.

Because it was not required to mark items so many years ago, you will occasionally find jewelry unmarked.

I used to be a quality engineer for close to 20 years and worked with many different types of metals. So I am not a novice when it comes to metal.

Lastly, if you question the my findings on these cufflinks - Don't bid!

These are still worth at least $40 regardless of gold content. You can't even win a $15 amazon gift card for 26,000 credits. Plus I am giving free shipping.

The winner must accept my findings because I will not accept a return. I would rather just give the credits back without me paying for the shipping and take them to a jeweler for scrap metal.

I'm not so worried about the content of the metal but rather the integrity of the jewelry. Good that you did it in an un-obvious place. I agree with your price assessment. You may see me bid on these if I remember before it ends. ;) ty for the response

Thank you : )

This is a premium auction and has been up for 21 days. It really makes you wonderful why someone would make a comment in the last few hours of the auction, that is not what I stated it is. Especially when it is a time I am usually not on line!

The only reason someone would do that is to keep the bids down.
