Lore of the Inuit peoples claim Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis, an ordinary stone that transforms to the extraordinary, shimmering in a mystical light that separates the waking world from unseen realms. It is, in every sense, a Stone of Magic, a crystal of shamans, diviners, healers, and all who travel and embrace the universe seeking knowledge and guidance. For self-discovery, it is excellent for awakening one's own awareness of inner spirit, intuition and psychic abilities.
Labradorite calms an overactive mind and energizes the imagination, bringing in new ideas. It is a wonderful tool for returning joy and spontaneity back to one's life. It helps eliminate the emotional drain of daily routine or being weighed down by responsibility, and awakens a sense of adventure and change.
Labradorite brings forgotten memories to light and facilitates their understanding. It encourages contemplation and introspection, bringing the clarity of intellectual thought and intuitive wisdom to help dispel illusion, determine the root cause of an issue, and bring one to peace. It is an uplifting crystal, helping to banish fears and insecurities while enhancing faith and reliance in oneself and trust in the universe.

Labradorite has many colors including pitch black. (Some call it Norway Labradorite when it is that color or Larkavite) It is has blues, greens, golds, blacks, and every hue in between. Just as the Aurora Borealis has many many colors and hence the Inuits peoples belief that Labradorite is light left behind from that event. I have never in my 15 some odd years of doing this seen just a solid blue piece of Labradorite. So yes it does have some blues in it and no it doesn't have to be blue at all. This piece has blues in it but the greens and golds really pop out of this little slice of heavenly light. Thank you for stopping by and asking a great question. I always appreciate getting to talk more about the stones I list. Have a beautiful evening. ~Namaste

Well, I do think this stone is far prettier in person. I have, since I wrote the above, done some reading about this stone. It turns out that I had some in my possession. Stones that I was having trouble putting a name to. They came to me as a grey stone (I got about 6 of them), but I tumbled them for a week and boy did they glow. I had no idea what was inside! I have also been to a local store called the "crystal cave" and looked at the ones there. I now know that they are lots more than blueish. No matter what color, they are among my favorite gems. When I take mine into the sun, I see their true colors even more!
