Do you know the history of #6? It's dressed as a Chinese person...also, "hotei" does not mean "happiness" in Japanese (it looks like that item isn't pictured to see what it is though). Interesting lot...a few things aren't Japanese, though!

You're absolutely right. I used Chinese items when I couldn't find them in Japanese. I was told that #6 was brought back from Japan by a military family. It might be Chinese. #15 looks like many representations of Hotei that I saw in Japan when I lived there. He is usually shown seated, but also appears standing. I didn't mean to imply that Hotei "means" happiness. (Actually it means "cloth sack.") Hotei is represented as the Taoist or Buddhist god of happiness & contentment. Item 14 is not Japanese. Item 16 is a modern Chinese carving of an artifact that is uniquely Japanese. Numbers 18 & 19 are identified as Chinese & I have already mentioned item 22. Whenever an item wasn't Japanese, I told the children who attended the tea party. Hope this response clears up that issue; I had no intent to mislead anyone.
