Description

The listing, 1832 U.S. Large Cent has ended.

Here is another detector find. 1832 U.S. Cent, "MEDIUM LETTER" variety in high grade condition. I do not clean coins, but if this one were to be professionally cleaned, it would be a stunning beauty with great details! On the market, this One Cent coin would fetch three digits!

Great coin! Is that greenish color bronze disease? Or just oxidation?

I imagine oxidation... I think all copper and bronze turns green when exposed to the elements for so many years.

I know copper used in architecture always turn green with oxidation and that's the effect they are looking for. And maybe that's what bronze disease is. I know BD's considered a major problem with coins of ancient Rome, but that's exposure to the elements for 1500 years. Wish I had the credits to make a serious bid on this one! It's wonderful!

thank you for that valuable input, we learn something new everyday! Very interesting info on BD and roman coins also.... I never even thought of an old U.S. coin being underground long enough for that to happen, but it sounds logical to me.
