I haven't actually read the book but when I flipped through it in the bookstore I read this one quote from "part 2" called 'Recognizing your Abuse and Its Effects", that gave me this ' oh that's so true' thought.

The quote is "There comes a critical time in each person's life when the truth is accessible. Faced with it, you can either run and hide, denying it, or you can face your truth, accept it, and grow stronger."

I think the reason I really liked it is because at least speaking for myself... running from and hiding from a problem or painful secret can sometimes seem like its the "Strong" think to do, when in reality it just gets buried in deeper. Accepting a horrible thing as the truth, thinking about its impact (good or bad) and then being able to go from there is what shows strength and growth.

I always was under the impression that not shedding a tear showed courage - and that breaking down crying was a sign of weakness. But being able to have a total meltdown then being able to pick yourself back up and move on.. now thats someone who's brave, strong, resilient and even possibly badass.
