I can tell you how to find out if it's tarnished silver. Get an aluminum pan or glass pan lined in foil. Put baking soda in pan. then pour in boiling water. All parts that aren'r touching the aluminum, take a piece of foil and touch to it right after you put in the water. Tarnish will come right off. Take a soft rag and buff it to take excess tarnish off. Just feel of the cameo and see if it feels like plastic, stone, or shell.

You know I just checked it out again and It looks neat the way it is! Don't let anyone tell you anything different. If they want to to do this then let them bid get it home and do the test and if the stone cracks from the heat then it will be there fault.
