Oh these are lovely! I always wear jewelry containing 'purple hearts' in honor of my son, SPC Clay Patrick Farr, who was KIA on 2/26/2006, while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned two Purple Heart Medals (one from being injured in an IED explosion on his 21st birthday, and the second one when he was KIA by yet ANOTHER IED one week later), and his birthstone is also the amethyst. I do have many pieces of Purple Heart jewelry, but no earrings. Please don't think this is a 'hard luck' post, to sway others into not bidding. I have plenty of credits, and AM able to 'bid to win'. I just try to honor my son by telling people about him. He also has a page on the Arlington National Cemetery website if anyone is interested in reading about him ... Just google his name and include 'Arlington' in the search box, and a link to his page will be in the search results. I would love to honor his life by wearing these lovely earrings, so I am bidding!
