"Howdy!" Oklahoma has their own Redbud Trees, and they are the first thing that buds out in Spring. Its also the State Tree here.

thank you; that is very helpful. my sister and I are planning the landscaping for a yard and I will have to consult her on this. I very much like the twisted trunk, and the low height makes it okay to plant them beneath the partial shade of the neighbors pine trees. we had a dogwood before, but the life span of it was only about fifteen years; we do not plan to replace so soon again.

do all the trees grow with interesting trunks like that? what is the average height and branch spread? what is average life span? thanks

Yes, some do, and others don't. They grow about 7 to 10 ft tall, branches don't spread that far...I'd say about 20 ft. Life span..umm...good question! Have no Ideal and I apologize for that! But I know these tree has been here for 30 years, we take good care of since we have been here for the last ten years. Normal fertilizer, and watering. :) :) :)
