The listing, Vintage '50s-early '60s embellished sweater Size M has ended.
Very vintage, very soft ( like Cashmere), ecru white waist-length sweater with beautiful beading and faux pearl embellishment on the upper left chest. It has dolman full-length sleeves. The area beneath the arms ends almost at the waist. The edging is a pretty waffle weave and there is only one pearlized button at the rounded front neckline. The front opening is rounded to the sides. The back hem is straight. Really sweet. I love this sweater! But it is the wrong shade and sleeve style for me. :(
I am tall (5' 9") and typically wear a medium. It is loose though, and could probably fit a large. I am long-waisted and it falls almost at my natural waist. The sleeves fit me fine, so may be long on a petite person. But this would be so great with a high waisted skirt or pant! Or with the perfect waist it would be cute with lower rises on a cool summer night. It is an all season sweater! And in beautiful condition. There is one very tiny pull hole on the back right shoulder blade area. Hard to see and pretty unnoticeable. To be expected on a 55 - 60 yo sweater! I wish I looked as good!!!
The sweater is approximately 21" shoulder to shoulder. It is also 21" across the front hem. 15" from neckline to lowest part of the front hem. 17" from back of neck to rear hem. As you may see in the 2nd and 3rd photos (front and back flat) this is a roomy sweater so that it drapes. Very feminine.
There is some loss of luster on the pearls, but they are not darkened at all. I think the tone variation gives more dimension to the embellishment . There seems to be some slight loss of beading, but it's hard to tell because there are no loose threads. The beads are tiny and they are a mix of clear and gray. I have hand washed this in Woolite and wrapped it in tissue. Ready to ship to you for free!
